Today, on our 2020 Kia Sorento, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness, which gives us a seven-way plug, and a brake controller adapter.But these Sorentos, being really capable as SUVs, a lot of people use them to do a little bit of everything, which does include towing larger trailers with brakes. That's where this kit's really going to come in handy, and make wife a lot easier. It's going to give us that seven-way connector, that we need to plug our trailer into.And it's also going to give us that brake controller adapter upfront, in the driver's seat of our car. Adding wiring to your vehicle is going to allow, if you're pulling a trailer, to get wire functions from your vehicle to your trailer so that you're legal and safe.Adding this wiring harness to your vehicle, for the Tekonsha wiring, in my opinion, is probably going to be the best choice. Tekonsha's been known to hold up in their wiring. They're going to have a converter box that's going to be filled with potting material where all the wires come in and connect. That potting material holds those wires onto that circuit board really well so that, in the event that there is a lot of movement in that box or with the box, vibration, those wires aren't going to come loose.Another thing I like about it is, with the converter box, what it does is it actually protects your factory wiring in your vehicle from any backfeed from the trailer if there's a wiring issue. more

Curt Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Kia Soul- Video

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness for our 2012 Kia soul.The Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness offers a complete plug and play installation for our Kia soul. As you can see here, it has a nice and clean finish when attached to the bottom of the receiver tube. If we use our optional brackets, otherwise we would just have it hanging from the safety chain loops. Now hasn't mentioned, this is a plug and play install, and furthermore, it is a non-powered unit, which means we don't have to run that pesky power wire up to the vehicle's battery, which saves a lot on our install time.The Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness is going to provide us with our basics functions for the smaller size trailers. All right, this is what it's going to look like installed. This is going to give us all of our necessary lighting functions for our trailer: Stop, turn signals, and running lights. It puts out 5 amps for our turn signals and brake lights, and it puts out 7.5 amps for our running lights.To begin our install, we're going to need to remove the tail lights. Today on this 2018 Kia Sorento, we're going to review and install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness from Tekonsha, part number 118583. This is what the wiring harness looks like when it's installed. As you can see, there's not all that much to see, but this is our 4-pole flat, built-in cover. As you can see, it comes with a cover to match up to it, keep the dust and corrosion out of it. You can it as a hook to hold it place, or if you can also get an optional bracket that'll work with this 4-pole connector as well. Our wires are built into a module and two T connections that go onto your vehicle and plus a power wire going up front.Let's go ahead and take a more detailed look at these parts before we install it. more

It's going to plug right into your factory wiring, so it's going to be really easy to install.On the edge of your connector you'll find that it has a dust cap to keep out any dirt, debris and moisture so you have a long-lasting connection. It features a control module to provide you with all the necessary signals and it's fuse protected, so if there's any faults on your trailer such as shorts, it won't affect your vehicle, as it will just open the fuse that goes to that control module.We'll begin our installation underneath the vehicle on the driver's side. We'll need to remove the underpanel here by removing the four clips at the bottom with the trim panel remover tool. Use the trim panel remover tool to pop out the center button and then just pull the clip out. Now you remove the two plastic nuts located on the inside of your panel with a 15 millimeter socket. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Kia Sportage, we're gonna installing the Curt T-Connector 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Harness, part number C56251. This connector's gonna give you all your necessary lights you need for your trailer. It's got your left turn, right turn, brake, and tail amp signals. It comes with a dust cap so you can store it outside your vehicle or if you leave it outside while not connected to your trailer, you can cover it up, keeping out any dirt and debris. This Curt harness has a control box that will protect your vehicle circuits from any shorts or overloads on your trailer. The control box uses a separate fused power circuit from your battery so it doesn't draw any additional load on your tail amp circuits in your vehicle, potentially causing one of those fuses for your vehicle's tail amps to open.We're gonna start our installation under the vehicle and locate the vehicle's factory harness that we'll be plugging our T-Connector harness into. more

Here's what our wiring looks like installed. As you can see, it's designed to be hidden inside of our vehicle to help protect it from the elements, and so we don't have to worry about it becoming damaged when we are loading cargo in and out of our trunk. When we're ready to use it, we need to drape it to the side here of our trunk latch, and it'll dangle down by our hitch. Close our trunk up on over it.Now, this wiring harness gives us the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for us to safely and legally tow a trailer. This white wire here provides our necessary ground between our Optima and our trailer, so our lights work properly. more
